The Marine Department has extensive expertise in handling all aspects of marine and transportation claims and litigation. The department's concentration includes litigation, both ocean and inland, involving personal injury and property damage, marine insurance coverage, shipyard accidents, Limitation of Liability proceedings, Jones Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers' defense, cargo subrogation and defense, terminal and tower's liability, truck and rail claims, charter party disputes, marine construction accidents, products liability and salvage.

The firm's admiralty attorneys advise on insurance coverage issues, development of policy wordings, pre-litigation investigation of claims, examinations under oath, and insurance coverage disputes.

The firm also handles all aspects of litigation defense involving recreational craft, including related coverage issues and yacht policy wordings, as well as the defense of ship pilots, licensed officers, and pilot organizations in litigation and administrative hearings.

The department's attorneys are active members of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, sit on the Board of Commissioners of Pilots of the State of New York, and are regularly asked to speak at marine seminars and write articles of interest to the marine industry. The department head is the author of the Admiralty Law column for the New York Law Journal.
